Cook the lentils according to package directions. In a medium nonstick skillet, heat the oil. Add the carrots and onion; cook, stirring as needed, until golden, 10-12 minutes. Spray the broiler rack with nonstick cooking spray; set aside. Preheat the broiler. Add the lentils, salt, thyme and pepper and 1 cup water
to the vegetables; cook, covered, stirring as needed, until the liquid
is absorbed, about 20 minutes. Stir in the bread crumbs. Form the mixture
into 4 burgers. Broil until golden, 7-8 minutes on each side.
