Shoo Fly Pie
unbaked pie shell
1/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
a little ginger, cinnamon and cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. molasses
3/4 c. hot water

Work shortening, flour and brown sugar together, set aside.
Mix remaining ingredients together well and add hot water. Layer the crumb mixture and liquid in alternate layers with crumbs on bottom and top of pie. Bake 15 minutes at 450° F. then 20 minutes at 350° F.
