Sausage Casserole
6 slices white bread Butter
1 lb. bulk pork sausage
1 to 1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
6 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Dash Tabasco (optional)
1 tsp. dry mustard (optional)
Remove crusts from bread; butter slices, then layer bread in a buttered 13 x 9 x 2-inch casserole dish (butter side down). Crumble sausage in a skillet and brown. Drain well, then sprinkle sausage evenly over bread slices. Sprinkle on cheese. Combine eggs, milk, salt, Tabasco, and mustard, blending well. Pour over casserole. Let chill overnight.
Bake at 350° F. uncovered, for 45 minutes or until set.
Serves 4 to 6
