Almond Poppy Seed Bread

1 1/4 cups buttermilk
1 1/2 tablespoons almond extract
3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
1/3 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 tablespoons gluten (optional)
3 1/3 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1/2 cup almonds, chopped

Place ingredients in order given by manufacturer. Add nuts at beep. Set to medium crust setting.
Makes 1-1/2 lb. loaf.
